Dallas Maximuik
Born and raised in Kelowna BC, Dallas has been boating on Kalamalka Lake for the past 40 years. Throughout those years, he has been active in various watersports ranging from water-skiing, barefooting, wakeskating, wakeboarding and kneeboarding. After 15 years of extreme wakeboarding, he decided to retire his wakeboard and took up the sport of wakesurfing in 2007. After over a decade of teaching friends and watersports enthusiasts how to wakesurf, the natural progression evolved into starting a surf school, which was formally opened spring of 2018.
Dallas is not competitive by nature and prefers to share his love of watersports with others, but in 2020, he was convinced to enter a wakesurf competition and to his surprise he went pro and placed 1st in the Canadian Nationals Masters Skim Division. Dallas has a life-long passion for being on the water, and there is no place he would rather be than on one of the most beautiful lake lakes in Canada, sharing his love of watersports and his skills and knowledge with others.
Jennifer Maximuik
Growing up, Jennifer had a fear of water, and upon meeting Dallas in 1995, it was very clear that lake life and boating was a big part of his lifestyle. For many years, Jennifer’s primary role while on the water was perfecting her skills as a boat driver. In 2007, wakesurfing entered the scene, and it felt like this might finally be the right watersport to get her out of the boat and into the water! So began the challenging process of overcoming her fears and learning to wakesurf. It didn’t take long for her to grow to love the sport, and get hooked on the most incredible feeling of gliding on an endless wave.
Feeling fortunate to have overcome her fears, she made it her goal to teach all her friends and every girl she knew how to build their skills and confidence so they could hold her own in any crowd! After teaching friends and acquaintances for over 10 years, she felt the next natural progression was to legitimize her tried and true teaching methods by starting a wakesurf school in 2018. It continues to be her goal to share her love of the sport and continue to build a strong community of empowered and confident surfer girls!
